Those that serve the fan will thrive.

Those that do not will whither.

The importance of the consumer has been central to product development, marketing and sales in every other retail sector for decades, but it has only recently dawned on the music industry and artists to do the same.

Direct or indirect service to the fan will form the cornerstone of how I measure the 15 startups presenting at MidemNet Lab and everything I learn at MidemNet and MIDEM or discuss at MIDEM+ . Feel free to add your predictions for 2010 below, but rather than wasting more words defending mine, I’ll let the events of 2010 serve as judgment.
