exfm is an add-on for web browsers – and now an iPhone app too – which keeps track of all the tunes you’ve listened to on mp3 blogs, and then suggests new tunes as those blogs update their offerings. As it works via the cloud, you access the same account across any of your computers or devices.

An innovative service that has already gained much critical acclaim: heartily backed up by midemblog!

In this interview, Jones explains what exfm offers, and gives his tips on how to stand out as a startup.

Since the interview – shot at SXSW last March – exfm has added support for Firefox and Safari (it was initially Chrome-only) and has launched its v3, which notably included an embeddable site player for music bloggers to take with them – notice that black bar at the bottom of blogs? that’s exfm – and a new ‘Explore‘ section where the service notably features ‘Tastemakers’, to further aid music discovery. Says Jones, “we also launched with 50 blogs and now have more than 1400 sites using exfm.”

Innovative startups like exfm can still apply for our innovation competition, midemlab, right here. But hurry: today’s the last day!
