We spoke to Daniel Glass, one of the industry’s most-respected label leaders and a long-term midem-goer. He has recently been instrumental in Phoenix and Mumford & Sons‘ US success via his label, Glassnote Records.

Asked why labels are still relevant today, he replied: “any artist that wants to grow needs a team. We call it a label, but it’s really a team.”

He goes on to explain what midem can bring labels and other music industry people; provided of course you follow his advice, given at the end of this interview, namely: “meet the leaders!” Indeed, Glass echoes a point frequently made about midem: be it on stands or after conference sessions, business leaders at midem are more accessible than anywhere else.
