Interview with MFBTY, Drunken Tiger’s new fan-named band
Talk about D2F: the Korean rap stars' new band's name was invented by its fans!
We spoke to the South Korean rap stars Tiger JK, t Yoon Mi Rae & Bizzy, of MFBTY, before their performance at midem festival, January 27. They agreed they’re keen to show the rest of the world there’s more to Korean music than Psy, whilst crediting the megastar for proving you don’t have to sing in English to go global.
We also discussed social media and the importance of going direct-to-fan, and how fans can take part in the creative process. Case in point: the trio’s new band name is fan-made! MFBTY, which stands for “My Fan’s Better Than Yours“, was invented by fans… “and we just ran with it”, explained Tiger JK. Brilliant!
