Meet 2013′s hottest music startups: the midemlab winners!
The winners of midem's startup competition were revealed today in Cannes. Here they are!
instruMagic, won the “Music Discovery, recommendation and creation” category with Songful, its super-simple iPad guitar. As CEO Eyat Eldar told midemblog, the app’s aim is to enable anyone to play the guitar, using pre-set songs. An arrow changes to the next chord, and Bob’s your uncle! Eldar also pointed out that the app’s price has been dropped to just 99 cents for the duration of midem. Grab it here
Jamplify, a site for using fans to amplify buzz about their favourite bands, won the “Marketing and social engagement” category of our startup competition. CEO Andy Pickens told us all about it; and you can watch the demo video here.
The third category, “Direct to consumer sales & content monetisation”, was won by Stageit, a platform that allows artists to set up impromptu concerts, when and wherever they like, via their webcams. CEO Evan Lowenstein told us all about it.
A final special prize was chosen by France’s minister for the digital economy, Fleur Pellerin, at midem yesterday. Paris-based Audience.fm won the award, given to Julies Terrien by Orange’s Laurence Le Ny. Above is the service’s demo.
Congratulations to all the winners!
