This year’s market saw consolidation of many of the trends that have been emerging over the last few years, with the active presence of ever more brands, technology companies and innovators as well as artists from the worlds of pop, rock, EDM, classical and jazz. The Midem Festival, Classical Embassy and Midem Off took over the venues of Cannes for three nights, while Midemlab and the Midem Marketing Competition highlighted the increasingly creative and engaging ways in which music is being used by advertising agencies and brands. And while traditional business between core industry players was as strong as ever, Midem 2013 was also where the players in the new musical ecosystem came together to make deals, debate the future and listen to the stars of today and tomorrow.
