When I agreed to come down to Cannes to help out my fellow community manager (& midemblog editor) James, our social media colleague Ignace Blanco suggested we put my ‘true’ vocation — I’m a singer, in the band The Barettes — to good use, to build some midem buzz. So James & I came up with #SingMyTweet, where I’d sing tweets as they came up on our tweetwall. However, just as this turned out to be a bit too complicated, the Midem Hack Day developers like Martin Roth started posting images with Vine, Twitter’s new tool for creating 6-second, looping videos. That was the eureka moment: we called out for tweets to sing, then filmed me singing to them! My blonde wig & iPad music apps – including midemlab winner Songful, by instruMagic – came in very handy.

You’ll find the tweets & videos below: thanks to everyone for joining in! Be sure to turn the sound on; and click on the vine.co links if the videos don’t show up :)

Here’s the call for tweets, with an example song:

Our first song was for Nicolas Bordas, head of ad agency TBWA France (RESULT!)

Then Moxie’s Thomas Jamet, one of our keenest supporters (thanks Tom!):

Followed by Aaron Trubic, who said he’d “suck the Twitter teat” to keep up with midem news from the US:

And finally, Check the Sound got this groovy little number:

Nicolas & Tom were especially grateful. No, thank YOU guys! :)
