midemblog spoke to Katrine Ottosen – whose stage name is CALLmeKAT – about winning the Play Live at Midem competition; playing live at Midem Festival; and how she likes to interact with fans on social media.

Ottosen is a particular fan of Instagram, because “people react more to images. There’s just so much text out there, for example on Twitter. What I really like about Instagram is the snapshot quality; it’s an honest way of being direct online. Because that’s what social media is about. It’s not about getting your assistant to post for you; rather showing what you see.”

She also prefers this approach to mailing lists, because that’s not how she’d like to be contacted herself. “I don’t want to be bombarded,” said Ottosen. “I would rather see it on my newsfeed, or find the information myself. I try to do what I would like to receive as a fan. So I communicate that way, because that’s honest to me. So it means you have to wear a lot of hats, and that’s maybe not the best business model, but it’s just what I can do.”
