Midem Festival’s programme for tonight: an amazing cocktail that will take you to the four corners of the world, from Brazil to Taiwan!

To celebrate this year’s country of honour at Midem, we’ll start the three-night-long “Brazilian Music Experience” with a special “Brazil Inside Out” evening presented by Sacem. The artists featured tonight (photo) will show you the musical link existing between Brazil and France, through an eclectic selection of music genres.

Alceu Valença will rock the Croisette with the counter-cultural style he created in the 70s, while Renata Rosa’s extraordinary voice will take you to the Brazilian Nordeste and explore its folklore. Marcio Faraco’s compositions ranging from samba to bossa nova will undoubtedly charm those of you not addicted to Brazilian music yet. Last but not least, one of the most famous Brazilian electronic bands will give us a glimpse of the local indie scene: don’t miss Zémaria’s session (see the video below)! 20.00-00.00 Magic Mirrors Stage 1, Palais des Festivals

Tonight we’ll also celebrate a long-awaited comeback at Midem: Taiwan Music Night! These concerts will take you to the Mandarin –speaking world thanks to “born diva” singer-songwriter A-Lin (see video below); to the top of the charts with multi-talented composer Xiao Yu; to the frontier between pop rock and heavy metal with Shin; and to the enchanting atmosphere of a cappella O-Kai Singers! 20.00-00.00 Magic Mirrors Stage 2, Palais des Festivals

This promises to be quite a spectacular night, and we haven’t even mentioned Midem Off yet: this should be quite a treat for you if you’re fond of classical music, since IMG Artists and Albert Artists Development will present a special solo concert from Russian pianist Igor Kamenz. The “Atlas at the piano who takes all sounds of pains” – as newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung calls him – will perform works from Scarlatti, Beethoven and Schumann. From 19.00 at the Espace Mimont, 5 rue Mimont, Cannes
