Over 80 acts played live at midem 2012. Many put the direct-to-fan mantra to work as soon as they arrived in Cannes, telling their fans all about their midem experience. Few did a better job than French rock group Shaka Ponk (above), who played the midem festival’s last night up at the Palm Beach big top. The band shoots a videoblog of every one of their live appearances: and their highly-recommended midem film includes not only their raucous set — notably filmed direct from the stage, with their innovative mic-cams — but also their Croisette photoshoot. Great stuff!

The Special Ks also scored top marks on the video front, with this tongue-in-cheek teaser trailer ahead of their set at the Music Dealers/Coca Cola midem off night:

The band also featured in Music Dealers’ extensive Facebook photo album:

The following night, DJ Jazzy Jeff‘s impromptu set at the Spinlet night at DaDaDa was for many the highlight of midem off. Check out the photos on Facebook… & here’s one for starters 🙂

DJ Jazzy Jeff Spinlet Night

The Music Services Asia night, also at the DaDaDa, saw Kuala Lumpur eletropop duo Tenderfist strut their stuff (below, & more in this Facebook album):

Another Asian midem off hit was the Singapore-based drum ensemble Wicked Aura Batucada: George Luke grabbed an interview, including live soundbites from their soundcheck. Check it out!

And the Made In Taiwan night, which featured local Muse equivalent Mayday (below) was excellently chronicled in photos, right here.

Yesicannes.com also did a great photo report of midem’s Classical Night, which featured trumpet phenomenon Alison Balsom (below):

Over at the Jamendo night, Emerald Park performed “At the Mall”:

And at the same night, zvooq’s Bas Grasmayer — the crowdsourcing king of midem, more from him soon! — grabbed an interview with The League‘s Manu, for our video ambassadors playlist, starting with an extract from the band’s performance:

Not forgetting Twitter, of course: countless artists tweeted about their midem live experience, including Canada’s Julia Easterlin:

We hope the midem live experience was just as good for you!

And do keep sharing your favourite moments; we’ll post the best ones here 🙂
