This year midem introduced Magic Mirrors, a gorgeous new venue, to host featured artists and welcome up to 1,000 eager guests. Cannes was on fire, partly due to the neighbouring NRJ Awards (photos here). The big draw however, was the kick-off of the midem festival, featuring British ska sensation, Madness.
@CanSertoglu tweeted from the show, saying “I would give you everything For just the smile you bring” It was a magnificent night @midem with MADNESS. @ismacomas quoted: Madness yesterday at @midem pic.twitter.com/E3vScH8y
Asaf Avidan captured hearts with his stellar voice. A huge fan of Joplin and Dylan, I was quite keen on seeing his performance myself and was completely amazed. I’ll certainly be following him on his way up…
Another great surprise and huge success was one of the winner’s of the Indaba Music “Play midem 2013” competition, Yes Sir Boss.
Cannes was also aglow with the presence of Christa Ludwig, legendary German mezzo-soprano and star of midem’s classical programme.
We’re looking foward to the line-up tonight with Birdy Hunt, Drunken Tiger & T and the exceptional C2C on stage at the Magic Mirrors.
