midemblog spoke to Lee Morrison, Believe Digital‘s head of sales & new business, and SVP neighbouring rights, about Midem 2014’s theme, “Back to growth?”
“In general, sales are starting to show growth, which is a good thing,” said Morrison. “There is more opportunity now too: more ways to promote your acts, to get heard; and that’s a really good driver of what’s helping the industry grow again.”
Morrison cited Believe’s recent deal with India’s Saregama as an example of this new potential: “they’re the longest-standing label in India, which is great; plus we’re signing content deals all over the world at the moment. It’s value content, local content that is selling well, and it’s translating internationally. So that’s a big area for us.”
