The Palais may only be open during the day, but Cannes is up all night at Midem. We’ve a got a hot opening night this evening at the Majestic Hotel Beach, with several performances from our Midem Artist Accelerator Programme, a special British showcase, Trace Play Launch Party and of course, the Official Midem After Party at the Annex Beach with DJ Q.
STAGE 1: The Music is Great Presents: British Music at Midem showcase (in association with BBC Music) features Public Service Broadcasting, Jake Isaac and Dream Wife. Also, free food and drinks at the Majestic Beach Restaurant from 19.00-21.00 for great networking!
Dream Wife (20.10 – 20.50): The talk of the town at SXSW, this group is named after a 1953 romantic comedy, London trio Dream Wife make a cheeky, sugar-coated mix of garage rock, punk, and ambient pop.
Jake Isaac (21.30 – 22.10): Already boasting four independently released EPs, streaming numbers that total over 30 million, support slots with Ella Eyre, Paloma Faith and his own string of sold out London dates, Jake Isaac releases a heartfelt and honest record in his debut album ‘Our Lives’.
Public Service Broadcasting (22.50 – 23.30): is the corduroy-clad brainchild of London-based J. Willgoose, Esq. who, along with his drumming companion, Wrigglesworth, is on a quest to inform, educate and entertain audiences around the globe.
STAGE 2: Finalists from new talent booster the Midem Artist Accelerator (presented by Sony) will be on showcase on Stage 2, with performances from Be Charlotte, Iris Gold, XXX, and M.Anifest. These four artists were the most-liked on our Facebook page pre-Midem, and so get to play first of the 11 MAA finalists.
Be Charlotte (19:30 – 20:10) This up-and-coming band is fronted by teenager Charlotte Brimner who is already regarded as one of the most prestigious and cutting edge songwriters on the Scottish music scene. Tackling social issues her listeners can easily identify with, Be Charlotte creates vibrant, captivating music while skilfully integrating intelligent, affecting songwriting. Not to be missed!
Iris Gold (20:10 – 22:50) The elegant Iris Gold spun heads earlier this summer with her debut track ‘Goldmine’. A colourful and infectious amalgamation of party hip-hop and sunshine pop, it was described as by the Guardian as “deliciously summery and laid-back at a time when most pop seems to want to make you have a heart attack”.
XXX 22:10 – 22:50: XXX is a producer/rapper duo based in Seoul, Korea, composed of FRNK (born August 28th, 1993) and Kim Ximya (born July 21st, 1995).
M.ANIFEST (23:30 – 00:10): M.anifest released his fourth, and most ambitious studio album, “Nowhere Cool” in 2016. That and a single, “god MC” changed prevailing national discourse in Ghanaian popular music, putting content at the centre of discussions.

DJ Q 00:30 – 3:00: From the streets of New York and New Jersey, Quinta was first noticed as a housen music dancer for Bstar music’s “Queen of house” Miss Barbara Tucker: he was then given the opportunity to record his unique Mc style vocals alongside Barbara on some of her tracks.
